We just wrapped up our first full week of camp, and it was a busy one! We kicked off the week with a Canada Day party on the beach, complete with a DJ, a special dessert, a photo booth, and tattoos. We finished off the night with an amazing display of fireworks! Our weekly sports tournaments started this week after the Junior and Inter boys were drafted onto teams. It was a busy few days at Lower Field basketball and in the Skydome as the White Team became Inter champions and the Baby Gronks took home the trophy for the Juniors. Bunk 1 and 16 went on their canoe trips in Tremblant and had a blast! The Super Seniors and CITs had a great day white water rafting on Wednesday. The CITs were a busy group as they continued their week of bunk placements, planned a fairy night for the Junior girls, and worked on a POTH break. The Juniors had a great time getting messy at our Messtival special event. Slime making, shaving cream fights, chocolate pudding dirt cups, and a messy slip 'n slide on a hot day made for a great event! Friday night, we enjoyed homemade challahs prepared by the Inters and presented our inaugural core value awards during the evening program to campers who exemplified our values of Community, Growth, and Fun. The CITs did an incredible job breaking POTH only to be surprised with the rest of the camp that it was really Super Bowl happening over the weekend! It was an amazing week, and we’re just getting started!
Despite having a hectic week, we are thrilled to post our bunk pictures! You can enjoy them below in the section wrap-ups.

Super Bowl Wrap-Up
They say Sundays are for football, but we love football so much that we make a whole weekend of it! Super Bowl is one of our favorite events of the summer, and this year we saw Team Taylor Swift vs Team Justin Bieber in a battle of the halftime shows. Campers battled it out on the fields and on the stage to be crowned 2024 Super Bowl Champs! Our captains and camper captains did an amazing job leading their teams on and off the field. Bunk 1 played their hearts out in the high senior girls' game on Saturday night, with Team Bieber coming out with the win. The weekend culminated on Sunday night with the high senior boys' game (Bunk 16) under the lights. Everyone enjoyed hot dogs, chips, and homemade cookies on Upper Field while cheering on their team. Congrats to Team Taylor on their win and for being crowned the overall champs of Super Bowl 2024! We had a great couple of days, and everyone enjoyed a much-deserved sleep-in this morning!

Senior Leagues
Welcome to Leagues 2024! After being drafted onto teams, the boys in bunks 12, 8, and 16 played their first round of games this past week. With every team playing twice so far, we’ve seen some crazy intense games! Here are some highlights of the 2 most exciting ones.
Game #1 - Rizzlers 5 vs Heroes 6 - Lightning Ball on Upper Field
This game was all but over when David Finkel drove in 2 runs to put the Rizzlers up 5-0 in the 4th inning. The Heroes could barely muster up the strength to get a base runner, but Lyon Auerbach gave them some momentum with a base hit. This started an incredible rally, which cut the deficit to 5-3. It remained 5-3 until the bottom of the 9th inning when magic struck Upper Field. With 2 men on base, Captain Tyler Rosen hit a line drive to left field, tying the game up. Up to the plate came David Garfield, and he came through under pressure by poking a base hit up the middle, which was just strong enough for Rosen to round 3rd and slide home to win the game. The celebration lasted all night as Coaches Twik and Kisber had promised their team extra canteen if they could somehow come back and win the game.
Game #2 - Lebron vs Ghostbusters - Basketball
The opening basketball game of the season was one that will live in infamy at Camp Wingate. Both Team LeBron and Team Ghostbusters came out of the draft thinking this year was their year. First-round picks Koby Azoulay and Raf Akerman took over the first half of the game, going back and forth from anywhere and everywhere on the court. It was a one-man show for both teams. Driving to the net, from mid-range, and from 3, both players couldn’t miss. At halftime, the score was 17-16 for Ghostbusters. In response, LeBron Coaches Lach and Shimmy rallied their team, and they came out for the second half with a vengeance. Making some defensive adjustments, Raf Akerman only managed 2 points and only let up a total of 6 points in the half. On offense, Team LeBron was able to create space for their guys as Dylan Goldenblatt was found open at the 3-point line multiple times. Goldenblatt was on fire, sinking 2 out of 3 attempts which put the final dagger in this game, securing the win for Team LeBron.

Juniors this Week
The second week of camp for our Juniors has been nothing short of incredible! As they've settled in, friendships have blossomed, and unforgettable memories have been created. Highlighting the week was Super Bowl 2024, where Team Taylor triumphed over Team Bieber, sparking cheers and celebrations all around.
Activities have been a hit, with Juniors! They've mastered the art of making delicious chocolate brownies, hitting bullseyes in archery, and having a blast on the blob. This week's evening activities were also a ton of fun, in particular, the camp-wide scavenger hunt where campers had to find clues to unlock a hidden treasure. The Wingate Messtival was a messy success, with everyone embracing the challenge to get as messy as possible, culminating in a spirited water fight and a refreshing dip in the lake. The Juniors have really settled into camp life, embracing all the activities, having fun with their friends, creating bonds with their counselors, and loving all that camp has to offer. So here's to many more days of adventures and camaraderie in the weeks ahead at camp!

Inters this Week
What an amazing week in the Inter section! The kids have been fantastic at all their activities. From waterskiing, to archery, to lower field basketball, to cooking, and so much more, the Inters have been excited and loving life at camp! With the beautiful weather we had this week, The Blob has become the favorite spot to find the Inters. In sports, Bunk 4 and 11 boys faced off in an epic basketball tournament. With just under four seconds remaining in overtime, Ben Khadoury hit a game-winning 3-pointer to seal the victory for Team White, coached by Dusty and Dom. On Friday, we enjoyed a challah bake making our own challahs that did not disappoint. This week, we held our first major event of the summer, Super Bowl, where Team Justin Bieber squared off against Team Taylor Swift for a battle of the halftime show. All four team captains featured staff from the Inter section (Toby, Daniela, Ollie, and Seb). Teams earned points from cheer routines, POTH, dances, and, of course, football games. To end the event, the entire camp gathered on Upper Field to enjoy hotdogs fresh off the grill as we all watched the iconic high-senior boys game under the lights. We can't wait for Week 2!

Their trips were amazing, and everyone enjoyed them. Meanwhile, the Super Seniors had an amazing time white-water rafting on the Rivière Rouge on Wednesday. They all really enjoyed their time and came back to camp with lots of exciting memorable stories. To top it all off, we had Super Bowl on Friday night right after our weekly Friday night program. The excitement was electric as we announced the teams: Taylor Swift vs. Justin Bieber, battling it out to see who would win the honor of performing at the halftime show. A special shoutout goes to Emma Rozansky, Kaitlyn Tannenbaum, and Jack Schwartz for being camper captains for Team Taylor and Marley Haimovitz, Livia Rabinovitch, and Elijah Raffoul for being camper captains for Team Justin. Their energy, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship were truly amazing to watch. The weekend was filled with lots of football and so many other exciting activities, with Team Taylor coming out on top. CITs this Week
It has been another fantastic week for the CITs! They are currently still on their first placements, and it's truly heartwarming to see the connections they are forming with their campers. Their dedication and enthusiasm are really rubbing off on the kids, creating a great atmosphere. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and commitment so far and are excited to see how they continue to excel in their next placements. We kicked off the week with an amazing Canada Day party on the 1st of July at the beach. The celebration was a huge hit, with great music, dancing, delicious treats, a variety of activities, finishing off with some fireworks. In other news, the CIT girls hosted an adorable fairy night for the Junior girls. The event was magical as they did the girls' makeup, decorated wands, and provided special fairy treats. The highlight of the evening was when each Junior girl was crowned as a fairy, making it a fun and exciting activity that everyone loved. Additionally, the CITs joined the Super Seniors for an exhilarating white water rafting trip down the Rivière Rouge. Everyone came back with unforgettable memories and stories to share! One of the week's highlights was the CITs breaking what they thought was POTH but was actually a surprise Super Bowl break. You could feel the excitement in the room when the CITs were performing. The CITs had a great time playing against the staff in a late Sunday night game. The CITs truly played an essential role throughout the week, from helping with the surprise Super Bowl break to assisting with all the activities and the campers. Their energy, enthusiasm, and dedication have made a significant impact on the camp, and we are thrilled to see what the upcoming weeks will bring for them.
