Week 2 Sports Recap

Another action-packed week is in the books! From thrilling bunk rivalry games to incredible individual performances, campers brought the energy all week long!

🏕️ Bunk Series Update

🌊 Surf vs. Turf Cup

Bunk 12 extended its series lead to 2-0 with a hard-fought 27-23 basketball victory over Bunk 7. Jax Shapiro led all scorers with an outstanding 15-point performance, knocking down six two-pointers and a three-pointer to power his team to victory.

🏆 '67 Cup

Bunk 11 kept the series alive with a dramatic penalty kick victory in soccer. A few fortunate bounces and a determined effort helped the younger bunk edge out Bunk 5, trimming the series deficit to 2-1.

👑 King of the Hill Cup

The rivalry between Bunk 8 and Bunk 9 is officially all square. Bunk 9 earned a thrilling 2-1 overtime win, with Sammy Schnurbach scoring the golden goal to even the series at 1-1.

🥏 Wingate Frisbee Golf

Competition on the course reached another level this week as campers chased one of Wingate's most prestigious honors: The Blue Jacket.

Each week, the three lowest qualifying rounds earn a spot alongside the defending Blue Jacket Champion in Friday's championship match during Free Play.

Congratulations to the Fast Feet Foxes, who captured the 2nd Junior Classic Championship after an exciting day of basketball and soccer competition.

Aria Shragie continues to embody everything Wingate sports are about. Whether playing against older campers or volunteering for one more game, Aria's enthusiasm, fearless attitude, and constant smile make her a joy to coach and an incredible teammate.

🔵 Inters

Jax Shapiro delivered one of the performances of the summer, scoring 15 points in the Surf vs. Turf basketball game to lead Bunk 12 to victory.

Lucas Maroun continued his remarkable summer with 17 goals in the Inter Ball Hockey Tournament before adding another goal in the '67 Cup soccer series.

🔴 Seniors

Jace Rubin put together an unforgettable all-around performance with 4 touchdowns, 4 flag pulls, and 4 backflips, helping lead Wingate to an Intercamp victory over Kineret and CBB. Some stat lines are impressive. This one deserves its own highlight reel.

Super Bowl 2026!

For years, Camp Wingate's football legends ruled the field. The rings, the records, the reputation—they built a legacy that every new generation has dreamed of chasing.

This week, that legacy was challenged.

The rookies came ready to prove they belonged. Faster, fearless, and determined to make their own mark, they stepped onto the field knowing they had something to prove.

As the legends watched from the broadcast booth, they didn't hold back, questioning every play and reminding everyone of the standard they had set over the years. But once the games began, there was only one place to settle the debate: on the field.

Over two unforgettable days, every game, every challenge, and every point mattered. The competition was fierce, the energy was electric, and the traditions that make the Wingate Super Bowl so special were on full display.

In the end, it wasn't just about who won. It was about the passion, teamwork, sportsmanship, and memories that make the Super Bowl one of the defining experiences of a Wingate summer.
