What a week it’s been! We just wrapped up an unforgettable first session! After a fantastic Visiting Day, we jumped straight into the break for Wingate Wars on Sunday night. The next two days were filled with spirit, friendly competition, and non-stop fun as campers and staff went head-to-head on the fields, in the water on the beach, and on stage. In the end, it was the Sun Heroes who claimed victory and took the beach!
We were thrilled to welcome our IVOW campers from Israel to camp on Sunday. They have adjusted seamlessly into camp life and we are really happy to have them here with us.
The rest of the week was a perfect send-off to an amazing session — beautiful weather, tons of activities, and some incredible evening programs. On Friday, we welcomed Camp Massad, Kinneret, CBB Montreal, YCC, and CBB Ottawa for our first annual dance intercamp. It was so nice to host so many campers at Wingate. The competition was amazing, and we loved having everyone here for a fun outdoor lunch afterward.
On Saturday night, we celebrated with a carnival-themed banquet dinner and our final first session Sing Song. Sunday brought goodbyes as we said farewell to our first session campers. We miss them already and wish them an awesome rest of summer — we can’t wait to see them back next year!
Today, we kicked off second session with lots of new faces and fresh energy. We’re so excited to welcome our new campers and dive into the next two weeks of fun. Stay tuned — there’s so much more to come!

Juniors this Week
Hi everyone,
It’s hard to believe we’ve already reached the end of the first session, but we had a packed week to wrap up the best month at camp!
We kicked things off with the long-awaited Wingate Wars, and campers brought the energy from the very start! Campers dove into activities like the Water Regatta, dress-up relays, Tug of War, watching the thrilling Captain’s Challenge, and of course, the Marathon. The competition was fierce and spirit was high with the Moon Knights taking the lead.
On the second day of Wingate Wars, the Juniors had the best time in a Junior and Inter watertight, and they cheered their hearts out during the Junior Cheer performance. That night, we watched the iconic Rope Burn, which had a fiery finish that had everyone on their feet as the Moon Knights claimed the win. But in the end, it was the Sun Heroes who took home the overall Wingate Wars victory!
The rest of the week kept the fun rolling, with warm, sunny days perfect for sun and swim time. Campers soaked up every last moment of lake life. Mid-week brought the Dance Show, and the Junior dancers absolutely shone on stage! Then on Friday, at our first-ever Dance Intercamp, our Junior Dance Team won first place in the Junior Section! That evening, we gathered for Shabbat celebrations and our traditional Friday Night Program.
On Saturday, some of our most creative Juniors performed in the Disney-inspired camp play. For dinner, we had a carnival-themed banquet, complete with a donut wall! And we finished the night with another beautiful Sing Song.
Sunday marked the end of the first month as we tearfully said goodbye to our first session campers. Though it’s hard to say goodbye, the evening’s cozy movie night was the perfect way to wind down and reflect on the memories we’ve made.
It’s been an unforgettable month, full of incredible moments. We are so proud of each and every camper and are so grateful to have shared this time with them. Here’s to more adventures ahead!
Warmly,
Laura
Inters this Week
Hi Wingate Families! It’s Daniela, the Inter Section Head! We’ve wrapped up another amazing week here at camp.
Monday started off with the long-awaited Wingate Wars! The break was Sunday night after Visiting Day, and it was amazing. We started the day with opening ceremonies, which included challenges for each section and the captain's challenge. We had a fun and exciting egg drop challenge and an incredible water regatta. The day ended with the camp-wide marathon, with the Moon Knights winning the evening.
On Tuesday, the battles continued! The Sun Heroes took the win for the Song Competition, while the Moon Knights earned the title for Rope Burn. For closing ceremonies, Bunks 19 & 16 created a cheer/stomp, Bunks 2 & 11 made a dance, and the High Inters showed off their creativity during a TikTok-making competition. In the end, the Sun Heroes came out on top and won this year's Wingate Wars!
Wednesday was packed with activities. Bunk 11 enjoyed tennis, while Bunks 12 and 9 played basketball. The Juniors and Bunk 16 boys had a basketball intercamp game against CBB. The Bunk 2 girls had an Arts and Crafts session, and we all cooled off with General Swim to end the day.
On Thursday, we enjoyed sun and swim during the last two periods. That evening, the whole camp gathered for the end-of-first-session Dance Show, where all the girl bunks performed the dances they’ve been practicing all summer!
Friday was another exciting day! We started with General Swim, followed by Wingate’s first Dance Intercamp with many visiting camps. Our Junior girls (those who just finished 5th grade and younger) took home 1st place, and our Senior girls (5th grade and older) placed 2nd — go Wingate!
We wrapped up the day with more sun and swim before coming together for a Shabbat celebration. During our Friday Night Program, we shared songs, stories, and celebrated some amazing campers and staff.
Saturday was a camp favorite — Sing Song! And on Sunday, we said heartfelt goodbyes to our first session campers. Thank you to everyone who made the session so special! Today, we welcomed our second session campers — we can’t wait to get to know them all. Here’s to making more memories in second session!
Seniors this Week
Hi! I’m Jared, the Senior Section Head, and I wanted to share a quick update on what’s been happening this week in the Senior Section.
We had a busy and amazing last week of first session. We started the week with one of our most beloved special events of the summer — Wingate Wars. It was a fantastic two days and the Seniors were all in! With High Senior Scav, Water Regatta, Chopped Competition, Camper Captain Challenges, an epic Rope Burn, and songs on the beach — it really was an amazing couple of days. Congrats to the Sun Heroes for taking the overall win!
Bunks 5 & 8 faced off in an intense baseball game on Lower Field, with Bunk 5 securing a narrow victory by just one run in the final inning. The girls were super impressive, as many of them participated in our intercamp dance competition!
As the first session came to a close, we said goodbye to a few of our amazing campers who headed home, and we welcomed new faces joining us for the second half of the summer. The energy and excitement continue in camp, and we’re looking forward to making the most of the last couple of weeks of camp!
IVOW this Week
This week, the IVOW kids arrived at Camp Wingate. As always, they were excited for the opportunity to make friends with their fellow Canadian campers, and they’ve already started forming deep new connections.
After a couple of tough years in our homeland, this has been a true chance for the IVOW kids to breathe deeply again — to reconnect with friends and nature, and to forget about their worries for a while. That’s thanks in large part to the incredible people, staff, and environment at Camp Wingate.
We’re only one week in, and the kids are already talking about coming back next year — and that says it all. They feel at home.
