We just wrapped up our first week of the second session, and we didn’t slow down for one minute! It was a hot and busy week at camp. Things started on Monday by welcoming our second session campers to Wingate. They fit right in, and we have loved getting to know them! Monday also marked the start of the second week of Day Camp. We had a big group of day campers this week, and it was great seeing them participate in so many of our favorite camp activities. Bunks got creative and made some incredible music videos in our annual music video competition. Congrats to Bunk 2 for creating something really exceptional! Even with the heat, Lower Field basketball was a busy place this week, with most bunks participating in basketball tournaments. Our hockey players got a lot of ice time last week! Kids were happy to escape the heat in the Ice Palace and had the chance to play in a 4-team tournament on Wednesday. Siblings played on the same team, and everyone enjoyed the morning with the Black Team skating their way to victory! Friday was a busy day at camp! We welcomed over 30 campers for Weekend Camp. Our CITs went to Kinneret for intercamp and then enjoyed the afternoon in Tremblant. The rest of the camp beat the heat with a trip to the waterslides. It was the perfect day to enjoy the slides!
With everyone out of camp, we planned a special afternoon for our Day Camp and Weekend Camp campers. Our staff put on an incredible carnival with inflatables, cotton candy, face paint, glitter tattoos, and an epic foam party on the beach!
With the Olympics taking place right now, we thought it would be fun to do our very own Olympics at camp. On Saturday afternoon the Juniors and Inters were divided into countries, had an amazing opening ceremonies and spent the afternoon competing in Olympic events around camp. It was a great afternoon of friendly competition! The Senior boys participated in a soccer tournament, and the girls did a “paint night” in the afternoon. We finished the day with everyone’s favorite, Sing Song!
As we prepare to say goodbye to summer 2024 we are super excited about the week ahead. The weather looks incredible for our last big special event, final sing song and awards banquet!

Day Camp
Our second week at Day Camp was filled with lots of new faces and tons of fun! Campers got the chance to experience some of our favorite activities at Wingate! Day campers could be found playing gaga, bouncing around on the trampoline at gymnastics, at cooking, shooting hoops at lower field basketball and making s’mores. Nothing says camp more than tie dye and our campers had a blast making their own tie-dye shirts to take home.
We found lots of great ways to beat the heat during the heat wave this week. With a water fight on lower field, boating on the lake, time on the blob and tubing with the ski staff we spent much of our week in the water.
Our week ended with a fun carnival filled with bouncy toys, face painting, glitter tattoos, cotton candy and an amazing foam party on the beach!
It was a great week and we can’t wait for all the fun coming up in week 3!

Weekend Camp
We were so happy to welcome our Wingate Weekenders to camp this past weekend! Everyone was excited to settle into their bunks, meet their counselors, and get to know the other kids in their section. It was amazing to see how fast everyone got into the routine of camp with the returning campers leading the way.
In just two days, our future campers got to enjoy both regular activities and special ones as they went tubing, had a foam party on the beach, a carnival on the lower field, and a bonfire with s'mores to end the day. Our "get to know camp" scavenger hunt was a blast as the kids got to explore all of our incredible facilities. The hot temperatures had everyone at the beach with lots of time spent jumping on The Blob; everyone’s favorite!
We hope your campers enjoyed their time at Wingate as much as we enjoyed having them, and we can’t wait to see them in 2025!

IVOW
We are starting our third and last week of camp. It's crazy how in just two weeks of being here we already feel like this place is our home and the people here are our family. The past year has been a tough one in Israel, and coming to this peaceful haven has relieved us from some of our pain, even if just for a while. We’ve been swimming and dancing, jumping and singing to the top of our lungs, we are making friends and dancing with them in the rain. Painting and dribbling and water skiing and laughing, oh laughing so much!
Having the time of our lives in heaven with many angels. Thank you Camp Wingate for being the most magical place on earth!

Juniors this Week
What a great week it’s been for the Juniors at camp! We kicked things off this week with our Junior Wingate Olympics 2024. The Whacky Dress-Up Relay Race had everyone in stitches, as campers showcased their wildest outfits while racing through a series of obstacles. The fun continued with our Longest Paper Airplane Throws and bean bag toss with Team Japan taking the win.
The action-packed day didn't stop there. Blanket Ball brought out some serious team spirit and strategy, but the grand finale was the Water Relay Race, where Team Ireland emerged victorious in the end!
This week also saw the arrival of our weekend campers, who jumped right into the excitement and made their first weekend at Camp Wingate one to remember. We hope to see you all back next summer for even more fun and adventures!
To cap off the week, we had our annual trip to the waterpark, making waves and enjoying the slides and splashes together. It was the perfect way to end a hot incredible week!
As we look forward to next week, we're both excited and a little sad as we prepare for our final stretch of camp. Let’s make the most of it and create some last-minute memories to cherish. See you next week!

Inters this Week
As we kicked off our second session at camp, we were thrilled to welcome 20 new campers to the Inter section. We started the week off with our annual music video competition. Each bunk picks a song and creates a unique video to share in front of the whole camp. Our Bunk 2 (Grade 4 girls) blew us away with their rendition of Wide Awake by Katy Perry. As we are into the month of August the weather has not let us forget it. What better way to cool off than a day at the water park. Water slides, beaver tails, and our personal favourite, the lazy river made for a beautiful day under the sun. While Canada’s best athletes are away in France for the Olympics, Wingate had an event of their own. Four countries led by counsellors native of their respective teams battled in many events showcased in the actual summer Olympics. Team England led by Dom (Bunk 4) and Laura (Bunk 2) were victorious bringing home the most medals across the competition. As we head into the final week of camp, we are looking forward to lots more fun and our last big special event of the summer! Stay tuned for the finale of summer 2024.

Seniors this Week
What an incredible week we had in the Senior section! We were so lucky this week with the fantastic weather, allowing us to fully enjoy all the water activities at the beach. Our week was filled with sun and swims where the kids got to go swimming, boating, and time on the blob. It was the perfect way to cool off, and everyone had an absolute blast. We continued the week with a special surprise! A trip to the water slides. It was such a beautiful day making it ideal for a fun day in the water. The craziness and fun didn't stop there. We had a great in the Wingate hall where the girls followed a step-by-step painting tutorial. It was a very fun activity and the results were amazing! The boys also had an exciting soccer tournament. The energy and enthusiasm were fantastic as teams competed, cheered each other on, and had a great time! As we savor these last precious moments, it's bittersweet to realize we're heading into the final week of camp. With more surprises and fun activities lined up, we are determined to make the last week the best and the most memorable one yet.

CITs this Week
The CIT’s had another great week in camp! They finished their last placement with campers and are getting ready to enjoy this week as a bunk. On Friday, they went to Camp Kinneret to play basketball and soccer against their campers and then got to enjoy a beautiful afternoon in Tremblant.
Many of the CIT’s have grown up at Wingate and watching them take on the role of a CIT this summer has been amazing to see.
We are looking forward to an amazing last week of camp. Their final week as campers promises to be a special one!
