Glazer's Game Plan
Our Head of Sports, Ryan, has some exciting additions planned for Summer 2026. Here's a preview of what's ahead.
This summer, we're introducing sevel new sports initiatives designed to maximize participation, create meaningful competition, and provide campers with memorable experiences throughout the season. Whether your child is playing for a championship, representing their bunk, or simply looking to have fun with friends, there will be opportunities for everyone to get involved.
🏆 The Junior Classic (Grades 1-3)
Our youngest athletes will participate in the Junior Classic, a weekly tournament that gives campers the chance to compete in a variety of sports and activities. Each week will feature a different sport or challenge, allowing campers to develop skills, learn sportsmanship, and experience the excitement of tournament-style competition in a fun and supportive environment.
⚔️ Bunk Series Showdowns (Grades 4-9, Bunks 7 vs 12, 11 vs 5, and 8 vs 9)
For our Inter and Senior boys, we're bringing professional playoff intensity to camp with our Bunk Series Showdowns.
Throughout the summer, neighbouring bunks will face off in best-of-seven rivalry series across multiple sports. Every game matters as campers compete for bragging rights, series victories, and summer-long recognition.
These series are designed to foster bunk pride, teamwork, and healthy competition while creating memorable moments that campers will talk about long after the summer ends.
🥇 Primetime Sports (Grades 4-8)
Campers looking for additional competition can register for our Primetime Sports Leagues, which will run throughout the summer.
This year, campers will have the opportunity to participate in both a Softball League and a Basketball League. These leagues will feature drafted teams, standings, statistics, playoffs, and championships, giving campers the opportunity to experience a season-long sports league similar to what they might play at home. Participation is optional, allowing campers to choose their level of involvement while ensuring that everyone has access to a fun and competitive sports experience.

Activity Highlight
Outdoor Adventure
One of the most exciting additions to camp this summer has been our new Outdoor Adventure campsite!
Located down by the lake beyond the village, this amazing new space is where campers enjoy canoeing and fishing during the day with our Outdoor Adventure staff. It's also home to our in-camp undernights and overnights, giving campers the chance to experience a different side of camp.
In the evenings, the campsite becomes a pretty special place. Campers gather around the campfire for dinner, s'mores, and hot chocolate, enjoying the chance to relax and spend time together outdoors.
It's been wonderful to see this new area come to life, and it's already become one of our favourite spots at camp.
Friday Night Awards
Each week, this section of our blog celebrates the campers and staff who are recognized for living Camp Wingate's Core Values. From acts of kindness and inclusion to leadership, teamwork, and positivity, these awards highlight the people who help make our camp community so special. We'll also continue to recognize recipients of the Illuminator Award, honouring those whose enthusiasm, encouragement, and positive spirit brighten the lives of everyone around them. Awards are presented during our Friday night program, with campers nominating their fellow campers for recognition. We look forward to celebrating our first recipients this Friday night!
